Florida Adventures – Just a Drive Away!

Flamingo Adventures at The Everglades

On a cool morning in Miami, Natalie and I wake up and head out to see the Everglades. We heard the best place to see the Everglades was in Flamingo, the southern point in the middle of the National Park, about an hour and a half from downtown Miami. After visiting the Flamingo Adventures website and looking at their activities page, we made a reservation for two nights on one of their famous houseboats.

Upon arrival, we paid our entrance fee and set out on the next 38 miles to Flamingo, heading deep into the Everglades.

At Flamingo, we checked into the marina store before heading to our houseboat. We settled in, taking in the scenery and sounds of wildlife right from the water. Our houseboat was fully equipped with A/C, Kitchenette, two bedrooms, and surprisingly a large bathroom! We had the best time catching our own dinner – Sea Trout and Redfish – straight from the Florida Bay, and getting to grill it up ourselves back on land.

As night fell, we hung out by the docks enjoying the vibrant night sky. We walked past the Eco Tents and checked out some of the Flamingo Campsite (for our next visit!) There is no place like this in Florida to see the night sky……It is AMAZING! The stars were so bright and there were so many to see it was truly incredible. We will most definitely be back for the ‘glamping’ – camping in style!

After a pleasant sleep on our houseboat, we began our day bright and early with a boat tour of the Everglades backcountry. The 90-minute tours that run daily take you into the Whitewater Bay area and as you head through the channel, while only 84 miles from one of the biggest cities in the U.S., we felt like we were on safari far away from civilization; it was truly an adventure! This year’s tour we saw more wildlife than we have in any other years that we have been coming to Everglades.

We had the best time exploring the Everglades and the staff and accommodations at Flamingo Adventures only made our experience greater! Every trip to the Everglades is better than the last, and there is no shortage of activities to do or sights to see. We love it here, and we are already planning our next trip back to Flamingo Everglades!

Thanks for tagging along with Natalie and Joe! See you next time when we road trip over to Everglades Florida Adventures! Be sure to follow on social media and look out for our email updates!
